My 5-Minute Everyday Clean Make-up Tutorial

I know, I KNOW…I am by no means a make-up guru. The last thing I am is fussy when it comes to getting ready. I want to be showered and out the door in less than a half hour.

All that being said, I like feelin' fresh and glow-y as the next girl. And over the last few years I've transitioned my make-up routine to clean, safe and toxic free products (with the exception of mascara). If you know a good clean mascara, put it in the comments below. My daily make-up routine takes five minutes or less. It’s simple, clean, and I feel like a million bucks.

Here’s what I do…

First things first, it’s all about prepping your skin.

Your make-up will look infinitely better if you start with a clean palette a.k.a take care of your skin girlfriend. It’s never too early to start. Before applying any make-up, I do a simple morning skincare routine right when I wake-up before coffee, journaling, or anything else. That way it can soak in before I put on my make-up. Here’s what I use:

  1. A Light Toner. I use a cotton ball and apply all over your face and neck.

  2. Next goes a restorative eye cream. Under eye skin is some of the most sensitive skin on your body. As you age it loses elasticity so you need to take extra care of your eye area!

  3. Finally it’s all about moisturizing. Year-round I use hyaluronic acid moisturizer. It’s one of my favorite anti-aging ingredients. It’s like a drink of water for your face!

FUN FACT: All my morning skincare routine products are in the refrigerator. They feel so cool and soothing when I apply, and the coldness helps with depuff-ing. I’m all about the depuff’ing, y’all!

Wait at least 10-15 minuets and then start your make-up routine.

  1. Dew Skin by Beauty Counter; it’s a tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. Year-round I wear SPF; it doesn’t matter if it’s raining outside, I’m going to have on SPF. If you care about anti-aging, use SPF! I use this clean tinted moisturizer in shade 2.

  2. Maya Chia Illuminator: My secret sauce ingredient in my make-up routine is the Maya Chia bronzer illuminator; it’s like liquid gold (and it’s also clean and toxic free). I use 3-5 drops and mix it into my Dew Skin. People ask me ALL. THE. TIME. How my skin looks so glow-y and fresh. My answer: dew skin mixed with this illuminator. It’s absolute perfection.

  3. RMS Beauty Bronzer: When I’m finished with RMS Beauty Bronzer, I am also going to try this bronzer that has great reviews. Note: I use my fingers for everything on my face. I don’t own any expensive brushes whatsoever.

  4. Beauty Counter Blush: I use this particular blush because it’s dewy, and I just apply a tiny bit to the apple of my cheeks…just enough to give me a pop of color!

  5. Covergirl Mascara: I just use a cheap mascara because I haven’t found a good clean one. But I’ve heard great reviews of the Honest Brand Clean Mascara

  6. Ecobrow Eyebrows: Honestly, if I have my eyebrows done I feel like a million bucks. I currently use Ecobrow; it’s clean and I get great results. I’m also curious to try out the Beauty Counter Eye Pencil, which I’ll buy once I’m finished with Ecobrow.

  7. Beauty Counter Lipgloss: this is the final thing I add. Just a little gloss and VOILA!

Alright friends, that’s all.
