Today on the subway I was in it -- so deep in thought that I forgot about everyone and everything around me.  I was in my own little world as I listened to Garth Stevenson and wrote in my journal on the subway.I was working through some stuff about who I am and what I want the next year to look like.  I was so focused on writing that I missed my train stop!Reality came back into view as I got off the subway and decided to walk to class.  And I’m so glad I did!  I passed by a shoe store and saw a neon sign inside, which read:

Simplicity is the key to brilliance.

It was exactly what I needed at that moment. In every area of my life, simplicity has become the focus. My wardrobe is starting to reflect my desire for simplicity. Instead of having a closet full of bright colors, florals, and stacks of jewelry, I have a few key outfits.

Simplicity isn’t easy. It takes thought, intention, and awareness to create something simple and understated.

Chanel referred to this when she said, “before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.”

I think she was on to something.

Simplicity: I won’t get there overnight, and I’m okay with that. I want more simplicity in my business, relationships, food, home and wardrobe.

I’m so glad I missed my subway stop and decided to walk to class – otherwise I might not have seen that neon sign.  And I needed that.

XO,

Kat
