Churchless: Searching for My Place Outside of Church
LISTEN NOW: ITUNES // SPOTIFY // STITCHER
Thank you Newsstand Studio at 1 Rockefeller Plaza for producing this podcast!!
I woke up on a Sunday morning feeling waves of grief from my recent heartbreak. If you want to hear more context for that heartbreak, you can listen to this episode from last year and last week’s episode. I feel lonely. It’s hard making friends in general, let alone during a pandemic, after a cross country move, and while you’re not going to church. I knew that church had been a source of community for me, but it wasn’t until I left that I began to understand just how much it brought me. In this episode, I just want to share where I’m at and see if you’re feeling the same way.
Who Am I Outside of Church?
Real Talk: making friends is hard.
Who am I outside of my role as a small group leader in church?
Who am I without the weekly rhythms of involvement at church?
What do I really believe outside of the groupthink?
Am I brave enough to ask these big questions?
Thinking outside the box
Going to group fitness classes hoping to make friends.
Inviting my friends over on Sunday nights to blast worship music, dancing, and praying.
What have you been trying?
Where are you at in all of this?
Is this a place where we can build that community together?
