LISTEN NOW: APPLE PODCAST // SPOTIFY // STITCHER

I feel like I start every episode with “this week’s episode, I’m doing things a little differently,” and that’s because I’m really just playing around with what feels good! Since before my sabbatical, I’ve felt lost as to what to share on the podcast. So this week, I decided to do something I thought would be fun (and maybe you’ll think it’s fun too)... an episode where I talk about five things I’m LOVING right now. Are you ready?

#1: The Creative Act by Rick Rubin

  • “Creativity doesn’t exclusively relate to making art, we all engage in this act on a daily basis. To create is to bring something into existence that wasn’t there before. It could be a conversation, the solution to a problem, a note to a friend, the rearrangement of furniture in a room, a new route home to avoid a traffic jam.” - Rick Rubin

  • This book has quick chapters that are so inspiring and thought-provoking. I start my day with a chapter or two and journal about it also. It’s such a beautiful way to begin my day.

#2: Open Book by Jessica Simpson

  • I never really followed along with Jessica Simpson (outside of watching Newlyweds in college because who didn’t!?). But wow she has quite the story. She was the poster child for purity culture and saving sex until marriage. Her book details her experience of saving sex until marriage, and the aftermath. Simpson is so open, honest, and vulnerable, and unafraid to throw herself under the bus.

#3: Nautilus / Goldenwood

  • During my sabbatical, I wanted to have a spiritual community and Nautilus became it. It’s essentially a 7 month program rooted in community, spiritual rhythms, and learning to hear God. Though the theology is a bit more conservative than where I’m at, it was such a safe space for me to come fully as I am, doubts, questions, deconstruction and all. And for that I am so incredibly grateful!

#4: Protein

  • I’ve been seeing a holistic doctor and I found out I’ve been only having about 1/5th of the amount of protein I should be having every day… yikes!

  • I started using Vital Proteins + Ancient Nutrition protein powder in coffee and my energy levels have been so much better!

  • More protein hacks: chia seeds in hot water with lemon; adding hemp seeds and nutritional yeast onto food for an extra protein kick

#5: My Flo App

  • Using a period tracker app has been so amazing for me over the years that I just had to share it as a current fave.

  • It’s so helpful to know what phase of my cycle I’m in so I know when my follicular phase is making me feel some type of way.

Bonus: Frames from Target

  • I just decorated the space above my couch and these frames from Target seriously look like Framebridge frames— and they’re only $20!!
