Happy Memorial Day Folks!
I’m about to leave my house to grab food for a little bbq at my place this evening with some close friends. I’m dying to make homeade whipped cream + cobbler!
To me Memorial Day means Summer is OFFICIALLY here! There are so many sweet memories that come to my mind when I think of summer:
fresh watermelon juice dripping down your hands as you eat it.
RED WHITE and BLUE.
Top: Ralph Lauren
Shoes: GH Bass
I’m thankful for this day, and for the many men and women that serve our country so sacrificially. We would not be where we are today if they were fighting for our freedom!
Go outside today. Bake a cobbler with fresh fruit. Hug your family and friends, and stay up too late telling stories!

It’s still only slightly spring in San Francisco - that’s what we love about it right? It’s always changing it’s mind. One day it’s 80 and the next 68 and foggy. Whenever I’m headed up there for a shoot I bring about 3 layers of sweaters + jackets and it’s a good day when I don’t need all 3 of them.
The thing I love about this mini skirt is the multi stripes - the reds, greens + blues all work well with all my various black tops. I realized the other day that’s pretty much all I wear.
I guess Kat would say that it’s okay to own a bunch of neutrals as long as the cut + texture is good + you accessorize! So get on with your bad self! And then she’d dance and I’d be jealous of her moves.
One thing I loved seeing at New York Fashion Week was some incredible vibrant Reds on the runway. So this week to kick off a little runway to reality, Kat + I have two NYC outfits with a pop of red.
While I would have loved to have a different jacket to share with you, the other reality for this California girl is that I just don’t have that many fun coats. It just doesn’t get cold enough to invest in them, so most of mine are the standard black or navy. After last week though and some of the coats I saw at the spring J Crew presentation I am rethinking things completely.
There’s just something about that Little Black Dress.
It’s timeless. Elegant. It can be both playful and sophisticated all at once.
That’s why when we were looking for inspiration for our first photo shoot for The Refined Woman we felt like the LBD was a necessary element.
How you wear your LBD says a lot about a you, and so we can’t wait to show you how we wear ours.
I love how Jamie wears hers … with a black vinyl belt + a fresh red lip.
Happy weekend lovelies!
