Erin is the amazing founder of Apartment 34 (you might remember her from our Style Your Staples series too!) - and we are so honored to have her sharing a little bit about her favorite investment bag for our latest installment in our Great Investments series. We love her clean and fresh style and she’s always inspiring us to take risks with our wardrobe!
At The Refined Woman we care a lot about quality over quantity, and investing in things that you are going to use for the rest of your life (yes, it is possible!). So without further ado, here’s Erin and her fabulous Céline bag.
When you’re in the blogging world you hear a lot about It Bags
. They seem to be a required extra appendage! While I love a fabulous purse as much as the next girl, there’s really only one that’s ever made my heart pitter-patter: the Celine Box Bag. You began to see them on the arms of fashion editors when Celine launched the style back in 2011. I was immediately drawn to the elegant and timeless design, the minimalist silohette and the lack of designer logo. I spent three years pining images of Box Bags, stopping by to visit them at the store and generally lusting after them.
So when I decided I was finally ready to own my first ever designer “investment bag,” there was really only one option. I’m the first to admit that these bags are the definition of an investment - their price tag is mighty high, but when I realized I was trying to convince myself to like a Chloe or Stella McCartney or Givenchy I realized it was just silly to buy something I didn’t absolutely, totally, completely, head-over-heels love. Go big or go home right?! But that’s another one of my favorite things about this piece, it’s an example of beautiful understated luxury.
When it came to selecting my bag, even though some of the newest, trendy colors were catching my eye, I went with the Classic Medium Box Bag in Camel
- timeless. It can be dressed up or down. It can be a shoulder bag or a clutch. It can be worn with an LBD in the evening or with ripped jeans during the day. I knew this bag would be The One I’ll love and wear now and when I’m 80!
Now that is what I call money well spent!!
